Dining Privileges

Darwin Alumni can attend meals on 30 occasions per quarter and are able to invite up to two guests.  All meals will be charged at guest rates.  You will need to book in advance for Formal Hall, however you can come into lunch at any time, just let the kitchen staff know that you are an alumni member.  To find out more about dining in College please contact the Alumni Relations Team.

Reunion Dinners

Reunion dinners for specific year groups are organised annually and usually take place in early May.  The dinners are always wonderful occasions bringing old friends and good food together.  There are always photographs and copies of newsletters from your time at College to look through before and after dinner.  Dates for the dinner can be found on the College Calendar.

Darwin College Society Events

The Darwin College Society (DCS) hold a dinner every term and a garden party in the summer. Both events are open to all alumni and up to two guests. The dinners are held during normal Formal Hall and give you a real feel of the College now. The DCS also organise 'Local Heritage' events approximately once a month.  For more information on dates and booking details please check the Alumni Events Page.

The Darwinian Alumni/ae Newsletter

The Alumni and Development Office produces The Darwinian newsletter once or twice a year. This newsletter keeps you up to date with everything going on in College and has news on Fellows and alumni. It is mailed to all alumni. If you have not received a recent copy, it may be that we do not have your contact details. To update your details please complete the Alumni Update Form.

The Alumni E-Bulletin

The Alumni E-Bulletin is emailed to you on a termly basis, it contains lots of photos of College life, information about alumni events and research that students and alumni have recently undertaken.  It is a fun and light-hearted read!  Sign up for the E-bulletin.


Alumni can book guest rooms with breakfast from £60 per night. The cost of en-suite rooms ranges from £112.00 to £84.00 (inc. VAT) per night. The single room is charged at £60 (inc. VAT) per night. Guest rooms cannot normally be booked for more than 3 consecutive nights or up to 5 nights with special permission.  To book a room contact the Accommodation Manger giving as much notice as possible.

Darwin Lecture Series

Darwin College runs an extremely successful annual open lecture programme. These run on Friday evenings from late January to the middle of March. Everyone is welcome. Details can be found here.


Alumni are very welcome to hire College function rooms for meetings or events.  Anyone wishing to reserve the Old Library or Seminar rooms in College or Number 1 Newnham Terrace should contact the Domestic Bursar's Secretary. There will be a charge for the hire of these rooms.  Prices are available on application.


If you live in or close to Cambridge alumni can join the Punt Club.  The Club operates a two tier membership system - £50 any time punting or £30 Monday to Friday off-peak (with an additional payment of £10 if a punt is taken at the weekend). If you live further afield the Punting Club run a pay-per-outing system - the cost of this is £15. To pre-book a punt please email the Alumni Office and we will be pleased to help, however, 'on the day' bookings should be made at the Porters Lodge.  Further details are available on the DCSA website.
